Our History
The first private, 36-hole country club in Orange County
Out of a former hunting preserve, Coto de Caza -- a name that's Portuguese for "Preserve of the Hunt" -- was built to provide a welcoming respite for resident Members as well as Members from surrounding communities. Club life centers around our beautiful, craftsman-style clubhouse, which opened in 1991, and 36 pristine holes of golf. The North Course was built in 1987 and is rated one of the nation's top 25 courses. The South Course, which opened in April of 1995, features smaller greens, flatter landing areas to reward good shots and native trees that give this Orange County golf course an established feel. The racquet club and aquatic center, which opened in July of 1991, and features a stadium center court, nine surrounding courts, a ball machine, as well as four full-time and three part-time tennis professionals. At the Coto Country Club Aquatic Center, Members can choose between three resort-style pools for various age groups as well as an outdoor Jacuzzi. In 2008, we opened the Sports Club at Coto de Caza, a state-of-the-art facility, offering everything you need for fitness and well-being as well as a full-service spa with four treatment rooms. The Sports Club also includes a kids club and locker room with steam room and sauna.
